Using rumors for therapeutic purposes

Abstract

Mental health workers and programs in small towns become the subject of rumors. A method is suggested for the investigation of such rumors and their use for therapeutic purposes. Three rumor case histories are presented to illustrate these ideas. The function of rumors in a small town is discussed.
