Abstract
A description is given of an experimental apparatus to study fast processes at the interface between solids and gases, which has no counterpart elsewhere. The kinetic adsorption curves of the reactants and the rates of the heterogeneous chemical reaction were both determined for the first time as a result of direct measurements for the recombination of hydrogen atoms. As a result, the dependence of the reaction rate on the concentration of chemisorbed particles revealed that pre-adsorbed particles participate in the reaction.
