Abstract
In44Ca, the −E2/M1 mixing ratioδ=+0.137±0.017 of the 2 +2 → 2 +1 transition and theB(E2) branching ratio of 3.3±1.0 for the 2 +2 → 2 +1 relative to the 2 +2 →0 +1 transition were determined by studying the decay of44Sc. In terms of a model of deformed excited states the quadrupole moment of this deformation is estimated:Q=−0.23b.
