Determination of the isotopic shift of192Hg in the line λ=2537 Å by Zeeman scanning the Hanle signal

Abstract

The Hanle signal in theλ=2 537 Å resonance line of an line mass separated192Hg was Zeeman scanned from a spectral lamp containing isotopically pure204Hg. The isotopic shift was redetermined asδv 192/204=v 204v 192=−27.7(3) GHz. The application of this method to even-even isotopes still further from stability is discussed.
