Hyperfine structure of nine levels in two configurations of93Nb

Abstract

The experimental data on the hyperfine structure of93Nb are analysed with respect to the effective-operator formalism. Using eigenvectors derived from a least squares fit to the excitation energies of all known levels of the configurations 4d 4 5s and 4d 35s 2 the effective radial parameters of the magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole interaction are determined. The comparison with relativistic calculations gives an estimate of the effects due to configuration interaction. The value found for the nuclear electric quadrupole moment isQ=−0.36(7) barns.
