Abstract
An investigation of the beta decay of78Rb to levels in78Kr has been carried out, and a detailed level scheme is proposed. The half-lives of78gRb and78mRb have been measured to be 17.66±0.08 m and 5.74±0.05 m, respectively. It has been possible to deduce percentage feedings and logft values separately for the ground state and isomeric decays. The spectroscopic studies favour aJ π=0+ assignment for the78Rb ground state, and 4− for the isomeric level. This implies that the78gRb→78gKr decay is isospin forbidden.
