Abstract

The structure of the neutron deficient 184 Hg nucleus was investigated using the GASP γ-ray spectrometer.184 Hg nucleus was populated through the156 Gd(32 S,4n) reaction at a beam energy of 163 MeV. Six bands were observed, four of them for the first time. The quadrupole deformations of the two stronger excited bands were measured using the Doppler shift attenuation method.
