Summary
The basic pathophysiological criterium of the Bartter syndrome is the resistance of arterial vessels against angiotensin. In this connection the sensitivy of peripheral blood pressure to angiotensin in hypokalemia and after normokalemia have been examined clinically.
The infusion af angiotensin in hypokalemia produced considerably lesser increases of blood pressure than the rises induced once the serum protassium concentration returned to normal. These findings indicate that the evaluation of the angiotensin test is only possible after the normalisation of the serum electrolytes.
