Summary

Open fractures with neurovascular damage,fractures with extensivesoft tissue damage, compound fractures with joint involvement,osteomyelitis andinfected pseudarthrosis, corrective osteotomy (limb lengthening, arthrodesis ...). A three-dimensional mounting is advisable. External fixation should be limited to special cases and cannot be regarded as a general alternative to the usual osteosynthesis with plate or nail.

Zusammenfassung

Indikationen für den Fixateur externe:Frakturen: Offen mit neurovasculärer Beteiligung, ausgedehnten Weichteilschäden, Zertrümmerung von Gelenken.Osteomyelitiden undInfektpseudarthrosen. Korrektureingriffe (Umstellung, Verlängerung, Arthrodese ...). Anzustreben ist eine dreidimensionale Montage. Der Fixateur externe soll speziellen Problemen vorbehalten bleiben, er kann die Osteosynthese mit Platte oder Nagel nicht ersetzen.
