Summary

The preparation of the complement-fixing antigen of Respiratory syncytial virus (4 strains) from established cell lines (5 cell lines) is described. The following problems are discussed:

  1. 1.

Determination of antigenic character of established cell lines.

  2. 2.

Characterization of anticell titres from animal RS-antisera.

  3. 3.

Comparative examination of different RS-virusantigens prepared on different established cell lines.

The best results were obtained with the cell linesHelsi andFl in combination with the virus strainsRandall andLong.
