Abstract
The coherent production of 3π systems by charged current antineutrino interactions on neon nuclei is studied in the bubble chamber BEBC exposed to the CERN SPS wide band beam. The coherent signal is attributed mainly to (ρπ) production, where the (ρπ) system is either non-resonant or comes from the decay ofa 1 mesons. The kinematical variables and the total cross section are compared with the predictions of the meson dominance model.

Note however the different choice proposed in [20], which leads to a multiplication off 2a by a factor 4.4

Instrumental effects explaining an apparent softening of thev-distribution have been searched for. In fact, the average π0 momentum in the μ+π−π0π0 events [(3.3±1.0) GeV] is lower than the corresponding π− momentum in the μ+π+π−π− events [(4.9±1.7) GeV]; an underestimate of the γ and π0 momenta or the loss of high energy gammas could thus partly explain the effect inv. However, there is no direct evidence of such biases and, in addition, the effect inv is also observed among the 4-prong events [〈v〉=(15.9±4.5) GeV instead of 24.5 GeV predicted]. In our study of the ρ− coherent production in BEBC [4], the averagev-value was also (marginally) lower than predicted, and a lack of high energy events was reported from a study of ρ coherent production in the 15′ bubble chamber at FNAL [33]
