Teratogenetische und mutagenetische Untersuchungen mit Coffein im Tierexperiment

Zusammenfassung

Die Gesetzmäßigkeiten der teratogenen und mutagenen Wirkung werden definiert.

Die bisher vorliegenden tierexperimentellen Untersuchungen und eigenen Studien mit Coffein-natriumbenzoat und gefriergetrocknetem, löslichem Kaffee bei graviden Rattenweibchen werden den Effekten teratogen wirksamer Zytostatika gegenübergestellt.

Eine teratogene Wirkung von Coffein kann ausgeschlossen werden. Auch für eine mögliche Mutagenität fehlen exakte Beweise.

Summary

Principles of teratogenic and mutagenic actions are defined. The recent experimental studies with laboratory animals, and our investigations with caffeine-sodium benzoicum and with soluble coffee in pregnant rats and mice showed no teratogenicity. The results are compared with specific teratogenic effects of cytostatic agents.

A teratogenicity of caffeine can be excluded, a mutagenicity in animal experiments can also not be proved.
