Summary
Thin-layer chromatographic behavior of 49 inorganic ions has been systematically studied on diethyl-(2-hydroxy-propyl)aminoethyl (QAE)-cellulose, a strongly basic anion exchanger, in aqueous hydrochloric acid and in acid-ammonium chloride media (0.01 to 1.0 mol dm−3). Aspects of the adsorption behavior of the ions on the cellulose are compared with those on other anion exchangers in the same eluent system. Feasibilities of separation of multicomponent mixtures are proposed on QAE-cellulose in both media. In particular, the selective separation of Re(VII) from many other ions can be accomplished on these systems.
