Relations between the structure and the morphology of titanium sulphide polytypic crystals are pointed out. A formation mechanism able to explain such relations in the case of rhombohedral polytypes is described. Experimental data supporting this mechanism are: the structures determined, the measure of crystal deformation and the frequent coexistence of some kinds of polytypes.
