Abstract

We have designed a stochastic model and performed extensive calculations to assess the role of potentials in influencing the efficiency of diffusion-controlled reactions on monolayers whose surface is partitioned into finite domains. The change in the diffusion-controlled rate constant kD in the presence and absence of a biasing potential ν(r) (specifically the quantity kD(ν=ν(r))/kD(ν=0)) is studied as a function of domain size, medium temperature and dielectric constant and the results documented numerically.
