Catalytic activity of the Co(II)/Co(III) couple towards peptide bond cleavage and formation of molecular oxygen adducts in protic amide solutions
2017, Vibrational SpectroscopyCitation Excerpt :Since the νCN region shows good relationship with the salt composition, it has been used to determine the average number of molecules, nFA, around Co(II). This is an important step because the geometry of a given complex has substantial effect on catalytic and molecular oxygen uptake processes [5,18]. The equation below allows to find nFA [1–8,25,26]:Io = − nFAJocCo(II) + JocFAwhere Io corresponds to the integrated intensity of the non-coordinated FA band observed at 1310 cm−1 and Jo its specific intensity; cCo(II) and cFA are the analytical concentrations of the metal and solvent (constant on a molality scale).
