Abstract

Farnesyl oleate (3,7,11-trimethyl-2,6,10-dodecatrienyl 9-octadecenoate), farnesyl palmitate (3,7,11-trimethyl-2,6,10-dodecatrienyl hexadecanoate), farnesyl palmitoleate (3,7,11-trimethyl-2,6,10-dodecatrienyl 9-hexadecenoate) and farnesyl linolenate (3,7,11-trimethyl-2,6,10-dodecatrienyl 9,12,15-octadecatrienoate) were obtained by incubating farnesol with fractions from homogenized cells of Botryococcus braunii B race. Farnesyl oleate was also found among metabolises derived from mevalonic acid in feeding experiments with the alga.
