Calibration of the gamma-ray measurement procedure in the EAST neutron activation system
2019, Fusion Engineering and DesignCitation Excerpt :It was designed as a robust diagnostics for fusion power in the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) [12]. The response coefficient of the NAS was evaluated by MCNP simulation in tokamaks such as TFTR [13] and JET [14,17], while the calibration of NAS was performed by using 252Cf neutron source in JT-60U [15] and LHD [16]. In this paper, the efficiency calibration of the neutron activation system has been demonstrated which is essential before evaluating the neutron yield in fusion plasma of EAST.
Improved neutron activation dosimetry for fusion
2019, Fusion Engineering and DesignCitation Excerpt :In fact, as previous studies have revealed, the spectrum shape in the slow neutrons energy region has been estimated with large uncertainties while significant deviations were observed in this region among the spectra produced from the different models used. The reason for these deviations lies in the great complexity of the studied geometry and the inevitable approximations and simplifications used for its description [6,7,24]. Furthermore, similar or even larger discrepancies among the neutron fluence values derived from different foils have been observed in previous neutron activation experiments performed at JET [25,26].
Shutdown dose rate benchmark experiment at JET to validate the three-dimensional Advanced-D1S method
2012, Fusion Engineering and DesignCitation Excerpt :The model is described in the next section. The deuterium–tritium (DT) and deuterium–deuterium (DD) neutron sources were described by a parametric representation of a typical JET plasma emissivity used as reference for JET MCNP calculation [14]. It has been verified that under JET conditions the production of the radionuclides responsible of the dose rate is proportional to the flux and in such a case the total dose can be linearly decomposed in the two components (DD and DT).
