Abstract

It is assumed that the acoustic waves induced by the high-intensity laser irradiation of various substrates can intervene in the formation of surface structures within and outside the laser irradiation spot. An experiment was designed and performed which appropriately allows for checking up this hypothesis and a correlation is evidenced between the geometrical characteristics of the forming surface structure and the parameters, first of all frequency, of surface acoustic waves.
