Abstract

9, 10 diphenyl anthracene is non amphiphilic and does not form stable films at the air-water interface. However, with stearic acid they form highly stable monolayers which may be transferred on to solid substrates with transfer ratio close to unity to form mono and multilayer assemblies. The Langmuir-Blodgett films obtained are highly fluorescent. Spectroscopic studies reveal a two-dimensional structure of the film.
