Abstract

All the levels of the low lying even configurations 5d2, 5d6s and 6s2 and of the higher odd configurations 5d6p and 6s6p have been found, the ground level being 5d23F2. In this level system 114 lines could be classified. The experimental results agree very well with predictions based on scaled Hartree-Fock calculations in the isoelectronic sequence of Yb I. Tables of energy levels, classified lines, Hartree-Fock integrals and parameter values are given.
