Precision determination of the lattice parameters of CuAuFe alloys

Abstract

The lattice parameters of a set of samples of fcc Cu99-xAuxFe1 alloys have been measured over the concentration range 0–99 at% Au. The measurements were carried out on a standard X-ray diffractometer and the line profiles fitted by a number of lineshapes. The resultant data were analysed using an established least square cell parameter refinement program. The lattice parameters, which are accurate to ±0.0002 Å, show a continuous variation with concentration and a positive deviation from Végard's law.
