Abstract

Electronic structures of high Tc oxide superconductors are studied by measuring the reflection spectra of single domain of the single crystals of YBaCuO (tetragonal and orthorhombic phases) and EuBaCuO in the infrared to visible regions. Significant anisotropy of reflectance is found in the orthorhombic phase and a strong band is found along the b axis at 0.3 eV. The origin of this band is considered in connection with the exciton mechanism of superconductivity.
