Abstract

Surface enrichment of deuterated polymers is investigated by means of the neutron reflectivity measurement in the mixture of the deuterated (d-) and hydrogenated polymers for polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) and polystyrene (PS). The surface monomer fraction ϱmo of the deuterated polymers and the characteristic length ξ in the depth profile are determined by the neutron optical analysis of measured reflectivity. It is found by changing the bulk volume fraction and the degree of polymerization that the nature of the surface enrichment of the d-PMMA is different from that of the d-PS.
