Abstract

We have measured the angular distribution of reflected 600 eV electrons from gold surfaces disordered by ion bombardment. The result has clearly indicated that the angular distribution is characterized not by the radial distribution function but by the differential cross-section of elastic scattering, leading to the conclusion that the diffraction effect is smeared out in the angular distributions of reflected sub-kV electrons from disordered surfaces of heavy elements.
