Abstract

The first observation of quadrupole NAR in vanadium and the relevant S-tensor quantities are reported. For bcc transition metals it is shown that the electron-phonon interaction is dominated by compressions and expansions of the d-bonds for trigonal shear, and by s-electron transfer into higher orbitals for tetragonal shear modes.
