Expanding PET-applications in life sciences with positron-emitters beyond fluorine-18
2021, Nuclear Medicine and BiologyCitation Excerpt :The first process was evaluated as uneconomical with respect to the very low production yields [188]. An earlier study also pointed to a disability of the 74Se(d,n)75Br reaction [189], but a recent re-examination showed that competitive (d,xn) reactions, leading to isotopic impurities, will not occur below a deuteron energy of about 10 MeV [190,191]. However, so far those measurements were only performed with natural selenium and deserve verification with enriched selenium-74.
Nuclear data for production and medical application of radionuclides: Present status and future needs
2017, Nuclear Medicine and BiologyCitation Excerpt :New precise measurements are absolutely necessary to determine the positron emission intensities of the radionuclides mentioned above. The production routes of non-standard positron emitters for which some sort of biological application has been demonstrated are listed in Table 3 [56–123]. Most of them can be produced using a small-sized two particle cyclotron (with Ep < 20 MeV; Ed < 10 MeV).
