Shape of pierce electrodes for divergent wedge-shaped beams

Abstract

The correct shape of the Pierce electrodes for space charge compensation of a divergent wedge beam has been calculated following the method developed by Radley. This beam shape is most frequently used in electromagnetic isotope separators.
