A data handling system for sonic spark chambers

Abstract

A data handling system for sonic spark chambers using long piezo-electric crystal microphones is described, a multichannel pulse height analyser with a 1 μs transfer time was used as the data store. The performance of the system is illustrated by the measurement of the properties of a 1.69 GeV/c scattered proton beam from the Birmingham synchrotron.
