Abstract

An on-line isotope separator has been used to extract selected delayed neutron precursors from a sample of thermally-fissioned 235U. A high resolution neutron spectrometer was developed and used to determine the energy distribution of delayed neutrons from the precursors 87Br, 88Br, 136Te and 137I, these being the major components of the first two delayed neutron groups. All the spectra were found to exhibit clear line structure. The fast neutron counting rate was determined for a wide range of other delayed neutron precursors.
