Abstract

The 23S1 state of 3He0 is very long lived and can be produced preferentially by neutralization of a 3He+ at low velocities or directly through rf excitation. Nuclear polarization can be achieved by a Stern-Gerlach method. Intense currents of polarized 3He beams can be obtained.
