Finite-range effects in double stripping reactions

Abstract

The finite-range effects in double stripping reactions are investigated by means of the “local energy approximation”. It is found that the effect of the finite range forces reduces the contribution of the nuclear interior and changes the shape of the reaction form factor.

The (3He, p) reaction induced by polarized 3He on 7Li, 9Be and 12C

Differential cross sections and analysing powers have been measured for the reactions $^{12} C (^{3} He, p)^{14} N_{g.s.}$ , 2.31, 3.95 Me V, $^{9} Be(^{3} He, p)^{11} B_{g.s.}$ , 2.125, 4 $^{7} Li (^{3} He, p)^{9} B_{g.s.}$ at an incident energy of 33 MeV and for the reactions $^{9} Be (^{3} He, p)^{11} B_{g.s.}$ , 2.125 MeV, and $^{7} Li (^{3} He, p)^{9} Be_{g.s.}$ at an incident energy of 14 MeV. The data have been analysed in terms of a deuteron cluster transfer and full microscopic calculations within the DWBA framework. Special attention was paid to the sensitivity of the calculations to the choice of optical potentials, form factor and binding energy description. The ¹²C(³He, p)¹⁴N reaction was also analysed in terms. of the coupled-channels Born approximation.
Final state interaction and direct features of the 9Be(τ, α)αα and 10B(d, α)αα reactions

Alpha-particle spectra and α-α correlations have been measured from the ⁹Be(τ, α)αα and ¹⁰B(d, α)αα reactions at several energies between 2.9 and 10.0 MeV. Significant difierences in the spectra from the reactions were observed at equal c.m. energies and momentum transfer values. However the continuous energy spectra have been successfully analyzed with two-body interactions as obtained from elastic α-α scattering, within a formalism adequate for a three-body state. DWBA fits have also been obtained for both reactions but they are satisfactory only for the ⁹Be(τ, α)⁸Be reaction.
Finite range corrections for two-nucleon transfer reactions

Finite range corrections in two-nueleon transfer reactions of the type (t, p) or (³He, p) are investigated by means of local WKB theory. We use a more complete form for the transition potential than that used in previous papers on this subject. A method convenient for practical calculations is developed and results for the reactions ⁴⁰Cs(t, p)⁴²Ca. and ⁵⁸Ni(p, t)⁵⁶Ni are presented. Finite range effects are found to be substantial.
Level investigation by means of the (d, α) reaction (I). 62Cu

The reaction ⁶⁴Zn.(d, α)⁶²Cu has been performed with 15 MeV deuteron energy. Angular distributions of the outgoing α-particles have been extracted up to an excitation energy of about 4 MeV and angular momenta have been determined by means of DWBA calculations. As this reaction is the first of a series of (d, α) reactions we carried out on target nuclei in the fp shell, we briefly describe the used DWBA formalism and discuss some features of the analysis when applied to (d, α) reactions in the fp shell. Especially a spin-orbit effect, connected with the maximum coupling possibility of (2p_$32$ 1f_$72$) and (2p_$32$)² shell model configurations in our reactions, is discussed.
Twice double-transfer in inelastic proton scattering processes involving collective pairing states, studied in a coupled channels formalism

It is argued that the intermediate formation of a triton in (p, p′) processes leading to a pair vibrational state offers an interesting possibility for studying two-step processes involving cluster formation, which is in fact more easily accessible to experimental probing than e.g. processes involving intermediate formation of a deuteron. A strong-coupling microscopic calculation is performed by adding reaction source terms to the proton and triton channel equations for protons on ⁴⁸Ca and tritons on ⁴⁶Ca. Comparison is made with ⁴⁸Ca(p, p') experiments and in addition the energy dependence of the cross sections is studied. Possible systematic trends are indicated which may be useful in connection with further experimental efforts.
