Abstract

We have computed the level of irradiation in the very forward region (pseudorapidity range: 2.5 < |η| < 4.7) of an LHC experiment, exemplified by the CMS (compact solenoidal detector for LHC) case. Information about the induced radioactivity in the absorber of a proposed iron/gas Very Forward Calorimeter has been extracted.
