2008, Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research, Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and AtomsCitation Excerpt :Hoff et al. [8] describe the use of CF4 on U-235 deposited on graphite cloths, showing release of Ga, Sr, Y, In, Sn, Ba and the lanthanides. However, their claim to observe Zr could not be confirmed by Eder et al. [10] who did show increased yields of Y and rare earth elements using a UCx target at ISOLDE. Moreover, our tests at HRIBF with UCx fiber and pressed powder targets also show no release of Zr by introducing CCl4 or SF6.
