Abstract

We present 116Sn (e, e′ n) measurements in the giant resonance region with kinematics that favor electric monopole, dipole, and quadrupole excitation. The excitation energy of the monopole resonance, while consistent with trends observed in heavy nuclei, is higher than results from hadron scattering experiments on Sn. The quadrupole strenght disagrees with an open-shell RPA calculation.
