Abstract

Incomplete fusion reactions are studied for the system 20Ne+27Al at 216, 294 and 384 MeV by measuring correlations between evaporation residues and α-particles. The exclusive evaporation residue mass distribution can be explained in a break-up fusion model where pre-equilibrium emission of one α-particle occurs. At the lower bombarding energy complete fusion and incomplete fusion compete over a wide range of impact parameters in the entrance channel.
