Abstract

Measurements of excitation functions and angular distributions of γ-rays following the 52Cr(p, nγ)52Mn reaction were used to deduce spins of low-lying states of 52Mn. A compound nuclear statistical model analysis yields spin constraints for the 546 keV (1), 732 keV (4), 825 keV (2, 3), 884 keV (3,4), 887 keV (2), 1232 keV (2–4), and 1254 keV (4–6) states. Multipole mixing ratios and branching ratios were also inferred. The results are compared with a 1f72 shell-model calculation.
