Polarization transfer in the 28Si(d, p)29Sig.s. reaction and deuteron D-state effects

Abstract

The vector polarization transfer coefficient for the 28Si(d,p)29Sig,s reaction has been measured at 10° and 20° (lab) reaction angles at 12.1 MeV. The experimental results are compared with distorted-wave predictions with and without the inclusion of the deuteron D-state. The small magnitude of the transfer coefficient observed at 20° is attributed to the large D-state effects.
