Abstract

Angular distributions for the 0+, 2+ states of 30Si have been measured for the 30Si(12C, 12C') reaction at a lab energy of 41.3 MeV. The data have been analyzed using coupled-channels calculations incorporating three possible models for the structure of 30Si — an oblate rotor, a prolate rotor, and a harmonic vibrator. Based on the quality of the fits to the data as determined by the minimum χ2. a prolate-rotor model is favored.
