Abstract

Particle-γ angular correlation and DSA measurements with the26Mg(α, pγ)29Al reaction have been used to obtain spectroscopic information on 29Al levels. Excitation energies, branching and mixing ratios and mean lifetimes have been determined for a number of levels up to 6 MeV excitation energy. The following new Jπ assignments have been made: Jπ(2.22) = 32+ and Jπ(3.18) = 52+. In addition, several Jπ limitations have been inferred. The experimental results are compared with shell model calculations.
