Abstract

The energy level structure of 103Ru was studied by means of the 100Mo(α, n)103Ru reaction. The experiments included measurements of the γ-ray yield as a function of projectile energy, γ-γ coincidence measurements, γ-ray angular distributions and lifetime measurements. Two ΔI = 2 cascades proceeding to the 72+ and 112 states were observed. The half-life of the 112 state was determined as T12 = 1.67±0.10 ms, and that of the 72+ state as T12 < 15 ns. It is concluded that the nucleus has a prolate shape in the 112 state.
