Abstract

Excitation functions for elastic and inelastic scattering of the 16O+24Mg system at energies of the 16O ions ranging from 47 MeV to 72 MeV and angular distributions of elastic and inelastic (2+, 1.37 MeV) scattering at 60 MeV have been studied. The excitation functions exhibit a very distinct gross structure. The elastic scattering data have been analyzed within the optical model framework, and optical model parameters with energy-dependent real and imaginary potentials have been deduced. Inelastic scattering data have been analyzed with DWBA and coupled channel codes.
