Abstract

The g-factors for Kπ = 6+,8 and 232 isomers, with half-lives in the range 5 ns to 163 ns, have been measured in 172, 173, 174, 178Hf, using the method of perturbed angular distributions. The results imply significant two-quasineutron admixtures in the Kπ = 6+ isomer in 174Hf, while the other two-quasiparticle isomers have pure two-quasiproton configurations. The g-factor for the Kπ = 232 isomer in 173Hf is consistent with the recently suggested two-quasiproton plus one- quasineutron configuration.
