Abstract

The existence of three very closely separated levels at 2.07 MeV in 26Al has been established. The principal decay modes of these and two higher states are discussed. Angular correlation measurements lead to spin assignments of 1 and 2 for two of the states at 2.07 MeV, and the J = 2 level is identified as the second T = 1 state in 26Al. Evidence is presented for assigning Jπ = 1+ to the 1.85 MeV state.
