Abstract

The reaction 205Tl(t,p)207Tl has been studied at Et = 13 MeV by means of a magnetic multi-angle spectrograph. A total of 15 excited states of 207Tl were identified below Ex = 4.6 MeV. Transitions with L = 0 were found to the ground state (100%) and to states at 4.35 MeV (51%) and 4.54 MeV (17%). The known d32 and d52 hole states were excited in the ratio 1 : 0.4. An attempt is made to interpret the higher lying states in terms of vibrational excitations, where the s- and d-hole proton states are coupled to the 0+ (pairing vibrational), 3 and 5 vibrations of the 208Pb core.
