Abstract

The analyzing power of 6Li for neutron scattering has been measured throughout the energy range 2–5 MeV and at four angles between 40° and 150°. The polarization of the neutron beam was absolutely determined using a neutron double-scattering method. The analyzing power of 6Li was found to be remarkably constant in energy for all measured angles. A multi-level R-matrix analysis was performed of the analyzing power measurements. The p32 state located at 3.5 MeV was found to have a width of 7.3 MeV and an s32 state at 2.8 MeV, a neutron width of 3.5 MeV.
