Abstract

Using the reactions 121Sb+12C, 118, 119, 120Sn+14N, 115In+18O a new activity with T12 = 0.56±0.05 sec was produced. It was identified as an isomeric state of 129La by analysis of excitation functions and cross bombardments. The isomeric state decays by a 104 keV (E3) −67.5 keV (M1) cascade to the ground state. The experimental data confirm recent calculations which predict for 129La an oblate equilibrium deformation.
