Abstract

The gamma rays emitted during the decay of 44K have been investigated with a 20 cm3 Ge(Li) detector. A total of 20 gamma rays has been identified with energies (intensities) of 367(4), 643(2), 651(5), 683(1), 727(10), 749(5), 877(4), 1015(6), 1024(12), 1127(16), 1156.8(100), 1498(18), 1752(7), 2150(34), 2507(4), 2519(12), 2656(6), 3394(≈5), 3622(≈11) and 4868 (≈0.5) keV. Of these, all but one have been incorporated into a level scheme for 44Ca which is in good agreement with the schemes suggested by (d, p), (p, p′) and (α, α′) reaction experiments.
