Abstract

The 64,66Zn(p, p′)64,66Zn inelastic scattering has been studied at 22 MeV incident energy. Excitation energies and angular distributions for states below 5.2 and 4.8 MeV were obtained for 64Zn and 66Zn respectively with 14 keV resolution FWHM using a tandem Van de Graaff and a split-pole magnetic spectrometer. The first 2+ and the 3 inelastic levels are strongly excited in comparison with the 0+2, 2+2 and 4+1 states. The measured angular distributions are compared with DWBA calculations, including Coulomb excitation, in order to extract L-values and deformation parameters. The results have also been analysed with coupled-channels calculations, assuming asymmetric rotor model, harmonic and anharmonic vibrational models. Spin and parity assignments have been deduced leading to new spectroscopic information for levels above 4.5 MeV excitation energy.
