Abstract

A comparison is made of a classical dynamical model for the reaction of alpha-particle-conjugate projectiles on heavy targets with experimental data for the breakup of 16O into four alpha particles. Theoretical events generated by a Monte Carlo method are “filtered” through the angular and energy constraints of the detector array. The agreement is good. The effects of the filtering and particle-particle correlations are discussed.
